University Hospital of North Midlands are to seek planning permission to build a multi storey car park on land now occupied by Grindley Hill Court Hilton Road. Residents are invited to make comments on the proposal before an application is made and can do so by registering to join a virtual event by registering on the UHNM website and clicking on the Project STAR button. The first event will be held on Tuesday 16 November from 12.15 to 13.15. There will be two others - details of dates below.
The attached note gives more information about the need for the car park. You can go to the website at www.uhnm.nhs.uk and click on the Project STAR button.

AS reported in The Sentinel today the University Hospitals of North Midlands have received finance to buy Grindley Hill Court on Hilton Road. The land will eventually be used to build a multi-storey car park once the finance for construction is available.

Two litter bins, one by the Co-op and one in Cumming Street which were overfull have now been emptied. The Council tell me that bins are emptied twice a week, on Mondays and Fridays. Any bins needing emptying should be reported to Environmental Client at EnvironmentalClient@stoke.gov.uk or by phoning 01782 234234 and following the options given.

Demolition of the Royal Infirmary site has begun and is expected to take 12 to 15 months. The last discharge of conditions of the original grant of permission against application 52893/OUT of 2014 were for the treatment and retention of certain architectural features relating to the history of the site. These are as follows:
Alfred Chew memorial - a Hanley wine and spirit merchant he left £10,000 to the Infirmary at his death in 1931.
Duke of Kent plaque - 1937 Opening of Radiological Department
Coat of Arms and plinth
Smith Hill Child memorial plaque - Smith Child endowed a ward in 1877 which became the Children's Hospital.
William Yates memorial plaque - gave £5,000 towards the initial construction,
King Edward VII Memorial and 4 foundation stones
